About the Author Vince Carocci, a graduate of Penn State University (BA, Journalism '58) covered Pennsylvania state politics from the Harrisburg state capital bureaus for United Press International (UPI) and the Associated Press (AP) in the 1960's and, in the early 1970's, for the Philadelphia Inquirer. His first assignment with the Inquirer was travel with then Democratic (though unsuccessful) gubernatorial aspirant Robert P. Casey of Scranton on the campaign trail. 16 years later, after Casey's election as governor on his fourth try for the office, Carocci joined the governor's staff and served as Press Secretary to the Governor from 1989-95. In the intervening 14 years, he served in a variety of senior staff positions with the Senate of Pennsylvania. From 1995-2003, he served as director of Government Relations and director of the Children's Health Insurance Program for Capital Blue Cross in Harrisburg. Now retired, he lives with his wife, Toni, in Camp Hill, PA. They are the parents of four grown children. Contact the Author
